DIY Porter’s Lodge is excited to announce that, thanks to funding from the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, we’re going to have Christabel from Sustrans working with us to give us opportunities to walk and cycle around the area. This is great news for DIY Porter’s Lodge as the street redesign project will create safer streets and spaces so this is the perfect time to get active by walking or cycling around your local neighbourhood.
Christabel will be organising fun ways to Get Active throughout the Summer in the local area for all ages and levels of ability. So if you’ve never learnt to cycle and always wanted to, or you’re a confident cyclist looking to meet new people, or if you’re new to the area and want to explore then we will definitely have an event for you! Some of these walks and rides will be themed around interests like gardening, BMX, local history etc and if you’d like to suggest any other possible themes please get in touch.
The first family walk and ride will be on the 15th and 16th June so keep checking the blog for more details of how to join us. Also, don’t worry if you want to come along but don’t own a bike, we can reserve a bike or bike buggies (for young children/toddlers) for you to borrow, just get in touch with Christabel. If you have any questions or want to reserve a bike please call Christabel on 07833 057603.
