Lots of residents cross the railway by the Ironbridge from Rugby Road to Sheppey Road everyday to walk to school with their children or just to get about the neighbourhood. It’s pretty depressing – with caging overhead, rust spots in most places, weeds, litter and glass on the floor. It doesn’t feel great or safe.
This bridge is owned by Network Rail so we can’t make major changes to the bridge in terms of lighting (at this stage) however we are able to do what we can to make it much more pleasant to cross and allow residents to take more ownership of the problems they want to solve.
So, you’re warmly invited to join us and help ‘Spruce up the Bridge!’. We’ll be meeting tomorrow (Thursday 15th August) at 11am at the Rugby road side of the bridge. Be prepared to pick up litter, add some colour and grow a green wall (a bit like the one pictured below!). You’ll also have the chance to win a day out for all the family.
Any questions please call or text Phillippa on 07789 653888. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
