At the end of November we held a Clean up along Rugby road as a response to resident feedback about rubbish, often in front gardens, bringing down the feeling of the street and neighbourhood.
We had a fantastic response and 50 or so volunteers helped out on the day picking up litter along the road, from underneath hedges, planting bulbs on the some of the grassy public areas and collecting larger items from front gardens for the skip. Our collective efforts almost filled an entire skip with rubbish!
It was great to have the volunteers who worked together with a fantastic spirit. To help us organise the Clean Up we had support from the Mayor of London’s Capital Clean Up who provided us with a Clean Up kit containing litter pickers, bags, gloves and high vis so we felt ready to get stuck in. If you’d like to organise your own clean up on your street or in your local area do get in touch with them as they really want to support local groups and residents take action to improve the area around them!
A huge thank you who everyone who joined us, to the Council who supplied us with the use of their skip for our one off event and to Capital Clean Up for the equipment.
